Audubon Co-operative Sanctuary Program for Golf CoursesBack to top

Under Titanium Golfs management, Club Pelican Golf Course achieved designation as a "Certified Audubon Co-operative Sanctuary". Club Pelican is one of only 5 golf courses in Australia to have received this accreditation.

The Audubon International Program is a worldwide effort that promotes excellence in environmental stewardship. To reach certification a course must demonstrate they are maintaining a high degree of environmental quality in a number of areas. These categories include: Environmental Planning, Wildlife & Habitat Management, Outreach and Education, Chemical Use Reduction and Safety, Water Conservation, and Water Quality Management.

The Audubon Program has given Club Pelican Golf Course the framework to highlight their efforts in water quality management and conservation as well as wildlife and habitat management, with particular attention focused towards maintaining the golf course using environmentally sustainable principles. Club Pelican Golf Course has significantly reduced chemical application to the golf course whilst maintaining its world class standard. This has been achieved through the use of sound agronomic principles, cultural practices and integrated pest management.

Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) & Golf Digest 2005 Environmental Leaders in Golf Award
Presented by the GCSAA and Golf Digest in February 2006, Club Pelican Golf Course won the category of the Environmental Leaders in Golf Award. This award acknowledges golf courses and golf course superintendents around the world for commitment to environmental stewardship. This is the first time this award has been won by a golf course in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Environmental Leaders in Golf Awards recognise superintendents and their courses for overall course management excellence in the areas of resource conservation, water quality management, integrated pest management, wildlife/habitat management and education/outreach. In addition, these categories are judged on sustainability, criticality, originality and technology implementation/use.
